I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch date here. A friend at a neighboring agency suggested we stop by for a weekday lunch as we had some business to discuss.
About a 12 minute walk from L'Enfant Plaza and the restaurant is located within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Once we arrived to the hotel, we did have to look around the lobby a bit to find the restaurant. Really nice set-up once inside, and I agree the views are nice (if you are seated next to a window with a view). I noticed that the restaurant was maybe 30% full, and all the patrons were in business dress (with the exception of me, I had no tie on). Ambiance is nice, noise level is extremely low which helps with private conversations.
One page menu was provided with dishes that seemed very appetizing, however I wouldn't have even noticed that there was an "Asian fusion" theme based on the courses. I ordered the salmon burger and truffle fries, which were both extremely tasty. The wait staff was very attentive, almost too much, as every time I took a sip of water they rushed over to replenish the glass. Prices are a bit steep for lunch.
Only complaint is that the fire alarm testing began as we were paying for the meal. The announcement that preceded the test repeatedly noted that it was only a drill, however it was a bit off-putting. Probably nothing that can be done in this area, as I'm sure they are required to test every so often. -

I think people primarily come here for the view, which unfortunately we didn't get to experience. We were in a large group, so they sat us in a semi private space, but no window to look at anything besides some bushes.
Food here was good, but on the pricey side. Which I guess is to be expected when you're at the Mondrian Oriental. Like $23 for vegetarian pad thai whaaa?
I had the duck broth bowl. It was tasty and filling.
Service here was very slow paced and perhaps slightly inattentive. I understand allowing us to have time to experience the meal and enjoy one another's company, but we just had entrees, so we found ourselves waiting quite some time to get their attention for drink refills etc. -

So, funny story. I didn't love every single dish I had at Muze, but the ones I loved I REALLY LOVED!! So much so that they get a five star rating, hands down, hiccups and all!!
My daughter and I went to Muze on Christmas Day for dinner. They had seriously advertised their Christmas brunch, which was just a typical high end holiday brunch, so we decided to defer our meal until dinner. They did not really make it obvious that they would be open for dinner at all. I only realized it because there were reservations open on Open Table.
So the restaurant was super quiet when we arrived. Our server was extremely attentive and polite and they paced the meal beautifully.
We ended up ordering several
appetizers, sharing an entree and ordering desserts. So, let me take you through our selections
The cauliflower hummus was MAGICAL the combination of the drunken raisins and the hummus was like an unexpected party in my mouth!
The edamame was edamame. The chili threads added a little excitement.
The Shrimp Scampi with forbidden rice was straight up NIRVANA!! I never guessed it would be that great!! The cauliflower bisque and the corn and crab soups were good.
The chicken entree was just ok.
But the desserts were also AWESOME! We had the mandarin and the cheesecake. The multiple textures elevated everything!! And the desserts were late after such a filling meal.
Even with the courses that were just standard the meal overall was exemplary!! This has definitely become my new favorite place!! -

Disclosure: I was a guest at the Mandarin and dined here out of convenience.
I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. But if you're here and want a nice dinner with a subdued ambiance and don't want to go far, you really can't go wrong.
My girlfriend and I came on a Friday night with no reservation. 8 ish pm. Restaurant was abuzz but there were a few open seats. Lucky for us, we were seated at the table by the northern window. In my opinion, its the most private table with a view. Two servers tended to us, and service was outstanding! Wish I could remember their names.
To start, we had the Mandarin Shrimp Scampi and the Ahi Poke. Both were incredibly fresh but unfortunately swimming in sauce! (Pun intended..haha '':)) The shrimp were a bit too sweet and the poke had a bit too much soy sauce mix but both were enjoyable nevertheless.
For our main, we shared the Lobster Pappardelle. Unlike the other reviewers, we got a good amount of lobster! The lobster itself was cooked perfectly - tender -as were the noodles - aldente. The sauce was rich and creamy but a bit flat. It lacked multiple layers of flavor.
Overall, you can't go wrong here! Hearty food that won't knock your socks off, but you'll get a great meal out of it. -

The wait was wayyyy too long for the food. I almost lost my patience and left. Food is average, especially for the mandarin standard. It's fine for a quick meal if you're staying at the hotel
